2007

Planning Phase

In 2007, the idea for creating ElectricFM began. It would be a year-long effort to get everything in place -- music, equipment, talent, everything needed to make the station possible.
2008

Launch

On February 4, 2008, ElectricFM was born! We started getting our new fans, and would begin growing the station immediately.
2008

#1 Dance Radio Station

On June 11, 2008, ElectricFM became the #1 dance/electronic station on the Live365 platform, where it would remain #1 for the foreseeable future.

Studio Upgrade

In August of 2008, seeing the potential for growth, ElectricFM upgraded several pieces of studio equipment, which would begin allowing talent to access the studio remotely, and allow for us to be remote-broadcast ready.
2009

iPhone App Released

In July 2009, our very first app was released for iOS.

#1 Overall Station

ElectricFM reached a milestone on 11/21/2009 -- the #1 most listened to station on the Live365 platform.

iOS & Android Apps

We revamped our iOS app, and released apps for Android in late fall of 2009. (Yes, we even had an app for the Nokia platform!)
2010

Adding Shoutcast

To reach a broader set of listeners and increase stream compatibility across platforms, ElectricFM began broadcasting on the Shoutcast platform.
2010

Top 100 Worldwide

At this point in history, Shoutcast was the "go-to source" for Internet radio. ElectricFM quickly became one of the Top 100 stations worldwide on Shoutcast.

Talent

More talent was added to ElectricFM's roster, including DJ Ruby Tuesday & DJ Tim Walters.

Interactive Night Show

In the fall of 2010, ElectricFM experimented with an interactive night show, where listeners can win prizes and talk to the station. It was a huge success! We had a lot of listener interaction.
2011

Live-To-Air Remote Broadcasts

We attended our very first live-to-air remote broadcast in June 2011, Capital Pride in Washington DC. The event was co-hosted by dance music artist Sophia May. We went to NYC Pride next!
2012

Pride Broadcast

In June 2012, we continued our live-to-air remote broadcasts, going back to Washington DC for Capital Pride. We were joined by several dance music artists. We even had a pre-game party at a nightclub in DC, featuring several artists that are regularly played on ElectricFM.
2014

EDM Showcase in Philadelphia

August 2014 was a big event for ElectricFM -- we were at Harrah's Philadelphia broadcasting live from the outdoor patio for the 2014 EDM Showcase.
2017

Taking a Break

Due to increased music royalty costs, and some personal matters, it was with a heavy heart we decided to take a break from operating ElectricFM.
2020

Relaunch

After extensive planning, upgrading studio equipment, and updating our website & smartphone apps, ElectricFM has relaunched in September of 2020. Let's do this!
2021

Alexa Skill

ElectricFM is literally everywhere our listeners are. In February 2021, ElectricFM launched an Alexa Skill, which enables listeners to tune in via their Amazon Alexa smartspeakers.

Ruby Tuesday Rejoins ElectricFM

In July 2021, New York's DJ Ruby Tuesday rejoined ElectricFM! She is known for being on-air at various New York City radio stations over the years. She was on ElectricFM back in 2010! After relaunching ElectricFM, and getting everything in order, it was time to bring Ruby Tuesday back to her home at ElectricFM!

Updated Smartphone Apps

In August 2021, ElectricFM updated its smartphone apps for Android & iOS. We brought all app design and creation in-house, enabling us to tweak our apps to fit the needs of our listeners now and in the future.

Top 100 Countdown Returns

On New Year's Eve, our Top 100 Countdown returned! The Top 100 of 2021 Countdown returned to the air, counting down the biggest dance hits. Our annual tradition is back!
2022

Redesigned Smartphone Apps

Completely redesigned our smartphone apps for a better experience. Listeners can vote on the music, record voice messages to send to the studio, and more.
2024

Smart TV Apps

With most consuming media content via the Internet, ElectricFM now has apps available for the major Smart TV platforms. In the summer of 2024, we've launched apps for Apple TV, Google TV, Fire TV, and Roku. You can access ElectricFM from almost any device! No subscription fees, just great EDM hit music.
