Black Friday
by Chris
I went out shopping tonight and almost every store has their holiday hours up on the windows. That only means one thing...Black Friday is coming! Are you going to go stand outside a store in the wee morning hours to score a super cheap price on this year's hottest holiday items? I think I will pass, even though I stay up super late on the weekends I could easily head out to be on line at a store to get the bargains, but I will pass. Usually it turns into hype, and depending on what item everyone is seeking out, some may be camping out for many hours beforehand to try and guarantee themselves their bargain. I think this year I will shop online if possible and use my frugal knowledge to get the best possible deals all without standing outside in the freezing cold on Black Friday! Will you be going out on Black Friday? What is your sought out bargain for 2009?
Buy The Music You Love!
by Chris
Big thanks to Adam W. who helped work on a huge database upgrade over here at ElectricFM World Headquarters. Now, you can see the Album Artwork for most of the songs we are playing on the station, and you can now easily click through to Amazon.com to purchase the CD or MP3 of your favorite dance hits! We chose Amazon since most of their MP3s are $.99 or less, they're DRM-free, and it's super easy to buy from Amazon. (I've bought quite a few MP3s myself over the years..)
You can support ElectricFM by using our links to buy the dance music you love! :o) Thanks for supporting dance music and our station -- we are here to stay and deliver the latest in dance to you always!
Halloween Costumes?
by Chris
Are you going to get dressed up for Halloween this year? I have to say I probably won't. I don't have any plans in store for Halloween just yet, so probably no dressing up! The last time I dressed up was probably back in high school. Occasionally I will dress up in black and color my hair orange for the day, but other than that, I don't really do anything. There are TONS of those Halloween stores around where I live, but I have yet to go in any of them. Is anyone else going to get dressed up, and if so, what will you be? :) Picture from 2008, I know, I look like I'm mad or something..or just scary? Muhahaha :)

Brr!

It's been a chilly last few days here in the New York City area. As I'm typing this it's a bone-chilling 30 degrees outside! It seems like the seasons are crazy lately. Summer was kinda on the mild side, being wet and not hot like a typical summer. Then fall comes, and this past weekend it was only in the 40s for a high, and it was cloudy and rainy all weekend. Supposedly it's supposed to warm up this week and be in the 60s with lows of 40s. We shall see! It seems the weathermen are never right anymore.. I'm waiting for a snowstorm! :)
Goodbye, Energy 92.7
by Chris
I normally wouldn't write about other radio stations, but this deserves recognition and discussion. At approximately 9:08PM PT on September 10, KNGY Energy 92.7 in San Francisco flipped radio station formats. They were a dance radio station that served San Francisco. They were recently sold, and the new owners have decided to scrap the format and put on a Top 40 format instead, which is very bland and predictable. It is sad to see Energy's demise because they were a unique radio station. Their on-air personalities were very approachable, down-to-earth people. They super-served the community in which they targeted. I knew a few people who worked there over the years, and they are great people. They treated their listeners well, almost like a family. It's a shame that another dance station on FM in America has gone dark. The talent wasn't able to do a final on-air goodbye show. This is what bothered me the most. With a loyal listenership that Energy possessed, they should have been permitted to do a final goodbye for their listeners. Instead, the listeners were kept in the dark unless they picked up on the subtle hints talent would say on-air.
Having lost a dance station today in America, this gives me even more drive to work hard at ElectricFM to make this the best dance station possible. And thank you to all our listeners who tune in to hear what your FM dial decides to leave out. You make us possible! We don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. We love dance music and are here to stay! And welcome to our new listeners who have tuned in due to Energy leaving the airwaves!
